Physics and Data Science Graduate Certificate

The Graduate Certificate Program in Physics and Data Science provides focused, interdisciplinary training at the intersection of physics, data science, and computational analytics. This program equips student participants with computational and statistical skills essential for analyzing complex physical systems and large scientific datasets. It strengthens preparation for data-intensive roles in academia, government laboratories, and industry. 

Certificate Overview

Students complete four approved graduate courses totaling 12 credits, including coursework in both physics and mathematics or statistics. The certificate can typically be completed within one year alongside an existing master’s or doctoral program.

How to Apply

Current Students: 

  • Please contact the CAS Office of Research & Graduate Programs at incasgrd@lehigh.edu or (610) 758-4280 to complete a curriculum change form, which adds the certificate to your academic record. 
  • The form requires approval from both your home college and CAS. 

New Students: 

  • You must have earned a bachelor’s degree to be eligible for the graduate certificate program.
  • Prerequisite courses may be required.
  • Submit your application and supporting documents for review:
    • Completed online application form
    • Transcripts from all schools attended
    • English language proficiency, if required
    • Statement of purpose
    • Resume

Deadlines 

Applications are accepted for fall and spring semesters.

  • Fall deadline is June 30
  • Spring deadline is November 1
